via Vietnam Posts English, 23 May 2023: The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Quang Ngai province held an emergency meeting regarding the discovery and seizure of ceramics suspected of being illegally obtained from an ancient shipwreck, dating back to the 16th-17th centuries. Plans to conduct further exploration, excavation, and protection of the site were discussed. On the afternoon of May 23, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT & DL) of Quang Ngai province held an emergency meeting related to the discovery and seizure of artifacts from the BD 10546 TS ship suspected of illegally exploiting antiquities.
According to Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai General Museum – Dr. Doan Ngoc Khoi, the seized ceramics include 3 types: celadon glazes painted with haunting and golden luster on enamel, some white glazes; blue-and-white glazed ceramics painted with blue and white flowers, white glazed ceramics with brick red flowers; type of jade celadon painted with a very unique golden luster.
