via Khmer Times, 05 September 2023: Cambodia’s Angkor Archaeological Park experienced a remarkable surge in revenue, generating $23 million from ticket sales in the first eight months of the year, marking a 419% increase from the previous year, with entrance passes sold to 498,513 foreign tourists during the period. This growth is attributed to the resumption of flights, opening of new air routes, and the popularity of Angkor as a World Heritage site.
In the January-August period, Angkor entrance passes were sold to 498,513 foreign tourists, a 350 percent increase year-on-year, the report said.
In August alone, the park attracted 58,148 foreign visitors, making $2.77 million in revenue from ticket sales, it pointed out.
The entrance fee for a one-day visit to the park is $37, a three-day visit costs $62, and a week-long visit $72.
The resumption of flights and opening of new air routes contributed to the remarkable growth in the number of air passengers and foreign tourists visiting Cambodia, said Top Sopheak, Secretary of State and spokesman of the Ministry of Tourism.
“The resumption of flights and the increase in the number of routes, particularly direct flights, have made it easier for passengers to travel to Cambodia,” Sopheak told Khmer Times.
