via Khmer Times, 04 October 2023: The APSARA National Authority has taken proactive measures to control water gates and prevent flooding in the Angkor temple area. The water level in the area had been rising rapidly, but timely intervention ensured that there is no risk of flooding. The water was diverted to various streams and temple moats.
Phoeurn Sokhim, Director of the Department of Water, Forestry, and Infrastructure Management, said that the water level in the Angkor area was rising rapidly. To prevent flooding of the temple area, according to the instructions of the Director General of the APSARA National Authority, our officials opened the water gates in time to avoid flooding. The APSARA National Authority managed the water completely and there is no risk.
