via The Nation, 28 November 2023: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Fine Arts Department have collaborated to transform Ayutthaya into a golden city of lights, using thousands of energy-efficient LED bulbs. This initiative not only enhances the night-time beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage site but also aims to boost tourism.
Thousands of energy-efficient LED bulbs in orange and yellow hues now illuminate the ruins, enhancing their spectacular beauty. A recently released drone-captured bird’s-eye view showed the ancient capital covered in radiant hues against a backdrop of darkness.
The PEA said the lights, installed in collaboration with the Fine Arts Department, are energy-saving LED bulbs.
The aim behind the project is to not just add to Ayutthaya’s charm, but also drive tourism to the ancient city, which was inscribed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1991.
