via Khmer Times, 29 April 2024: The Terrace of the Elephants, under the supervision of the APSARA National Authority and in partnership with KOICA and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, is nearing the completion of its restoration, expected by the end of 2024. This restoration includes extensive work on two specific sections, with improvements to structural integrity and the addition of a drainage system.
Archaeologist and technical team member of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology, Ms. Seang Sophany said that the restoration work at location A has completed the archaeological excavation and rehabilitation of the collapsed upper part and extended the repair of the floor in the south by 3 meters, the part that collapsed to avoid runoff by rain as well as repair, strengthen the foundation, and prepare the sandstone wall on the east side of the Terrace.
As for the architect and the technical team of the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology of APSARA National Authority, Prum Tithchhapanrith said that until now, the team has repaired, strengthened, and prepared the leaning wall correctly according to the pattern—90% original.
